Calvert’s Gift Farm offers a wide variety of certified organic vegetable transplants for the home gardener. Plants are available from April through May at our Farmers Markets. Look for us on Saturdays at the Bel Air Farmer’s Market, on Sundays at the Takoma Park Farmer’s Market, and on Tuesdays at the Kenilworth Farmer’s Market.

The majority of our tomatoes are heirloom varieties, meaning they have been kept through the generations for their unique flavor. Many of today’s hybrids have been bred to withstand shipping and storage, or to appear “round, red and regular” so as not to confuse the average shopper, or perhaps they produce in large quantities all at once so as to appease large production operations. Maybe some other traits, like a unique flavor, were lost along the way……
